Though my last couple reviews of New Moon have gotten some attention in the Yelp community because they are hilariously entertaining to read, I do admit that I was a little harsh. As a result, I am throwing the New Moon a New Review as a consolation gift.
Do I want forgiveness from New Moon? No. I actually forgive you New Moon. I forgive you for being inconsistent and imperfect, you are not the only one. The fact is that Nevada City is better with New Moon than without. So there. We're even.
I will return soon. -

I've been twice to this restaurant on visits and while it's a lovely place and the food is presented very nicely. The vegan options sure seem like an after thought. The wait staff is good about describing what can be veganized so that's nice.
Both times the main vegan entree was a cauliflower "man n cheese" and both times I've been surprised that there's not mac, only cauliflower in a coconut/ cashew (I think) sauce. It's rich and tastes pretty good but doesn't seem fitting as an entree, more of a side, really.
The salads are pretty tasty but I think they probably rely pretty heavily on cheese to bring it all together, so when veganized the leave the cheese out without adding anything in so it ends up a little lacking.
If y'all could up your vegan I'd definitely come back. -

Quaint spot with an incredible menu. A hand full of small plates, salads and entrees but each dish is packs a Big Bang. We started with the Prawns and a half bottle of Pinot Noir (server suggested). I had the quail the Mister has the flat iron. Then for dessert we had coffee with cremates brûlé & chocolate tart. The food was so delicious we decide me the only option was to over eat so we could enjoy every ounce of what we were served. Our server, Mary, was helpful, pleasant, prompt and personal. This place has mastered the perfect balance between a relaxed environment with an upscale dining experience. Absolutely worth the tight waist band!

I have only been 2 or 3 times, and was underwhelmed every time. Especially for all the hype it gets as being a farm to table restaurant.
My boyfriend thinks it's great, but there's really nothing special about this place. The prices are on the high side as it's intended to be a high end restaurant, however the food is not.
Don't get me wrong, the food isn't bad, it's just not all it's hyped up to be... AT ALL! -

Just had homemade ravioli for lunch......amazing along with wine and service. Then to top off the great food the New Moon Cafe donated to the Lake Wildwood's Injured Veterans Golf Tournament. Thanks for supporting OUR VETERANS!!!!
